Eagle Warrior: is there a problem or not ?

Hi all,

Moctezuma seems an interesting choice a first: he can capture workers thanks to his eagle warriors and can hurry production with his workers. A nice combo.

Meanwhile, after many games and long hours as Moctezuma, I never capture a worker after a victory.

Is there a bug ? Do you meet the same problem ?

The game should show you the percentage chance of capturing a worker. It depends on the strength of the unit.

It is over 90% against Slingers and Scouts. 62% against Warriors. Lower (30%-40%) against Swordsmen and Horsemen.

The eagle warriors can capture a worker. I had no problems with this when playing them.

You don't capture workers when killing barbarians, though. Maybe that's where the confusion is coming in.

I haven't had a problem with it either. Seems to net a free worker quite often.

Now, I know that rushing attacks against barbarians is useless (unless for the first promo). No workers there.

Just spam eagles and they can take cities out for a long time. Maybe at some point you supplement them with a battering ram and a catapult, but they should be good to take out one neighbour easily, giving you more than enough workers than you know what to do with.

One good thing playing against Aztec, is that even his eagle kills your slinger, it is very likely to become a builder. If you can immediately kill his eagle you capture the builder. In essence you get a more costly builder for a slinger, a pretty good deal.

Yeah that happened to me in my current game

I'm usually a peaceful player, but I wanted to give warfare and the Domination Victory a shot, so I played a short game as Montezuma today. I started wedged in between two city-states (Granada and Kumasi), so I blitzkrieged Kumasi and can confirm I got three workers out of it. It was quite fun, actually; I might give warfare a chance again some time...
