Watching FilthyRobot's stream, by the time he sends his first slinger into combat, a barbarian camp has 2 horsemen to oppose it. He hadn't even gotten a warrior into combat either.
What have you guys seen? It would be disappointing to see barbarians skip the phase where they attack players with their own warriors and slingers. I like that they can be threatening or use more advanced units, but not so early as to make the early units ineffective.
This was on standard game speed.
I don't imagine any rush strategies would be able to make use of warriors or slingers against other civs either, so they really do seem like trash units you want to upgrade rather than make use of. Scout killers, maybe?
