earth 1000 AD scenario problem

I can't meet Basil and Svein Forkbeard in the 1000 AD scenario.
I have met them and I'm even fighting Basil but I can't start talking to him and he isn't even in the score list at the right

Same thing for me. I guess that's the way it's supposed to be. I guess these are barbarian nations, and cannot be interacted with (just like with normal barbs).

yeah but I can let other nations make peace with them so that's strange

well, i will just have to kill them

yea you arn't supposed to meet with them. The civ's didn't do a great deal of diplomacy in real life so there's no point in doing it there. t's more fun to have some decent civilisations to destroy early on anyway
