Easier stack management is needed

i have 2 simple suggestions to make managing large stacks less annoying

1. have a keyboard shortcut for selecting all healthy units. too often i find myself scrolling through 50 units to deselect the 5 damaged ones

2. change the scrolling arrows from scrolling one at a time, to 10 at a time. it's bad enough to hunt through 50 units to find all the city raider units, it'll be a lot less painful if i clicked the scrolling arrows only 4 times instead of 49 times :p

50 units?!? So much for the Firaxis talking point about needing fewer units in Civ4........
 
that's the norm in my current monarch game. 40+ stealth bombers and huge stacks of ground units to manage, just to counter the swarms of AI units and generate some offense of my own

You use the control key to do that
 
I haven't created stack that size but I see your point. Perhaps allow the player to select a military advisor screen but just for the units on the selected tile. This way you could sort by differnet categories such as unit name, health or exp points. Then allow them to select units to group together.
 
on higher difficulties it'll be almost necessary to have huge stacks, because just one strong AI will throw over a hundred units into action when it first invades. and that's just on monarch difficulty.

i've tried using the ctrl+number grouping, but as soon as you attack, the units become separated and it's back to hunting through a ton of units to get them back together. i had two types of modern armor, one with city radier and one with combat promotions (for field work), and they constantly mix up and have to be manually separated again. i wish for a way to separate units based on promotions, but i'll be very happy if firaxis just does something about the first 2 requests

Press CTRL when you click on the arrows and it goes through them 10 at a time
 
cool i just noticed it. must be a new feature of 1.52 patch. i tried this before in 1.09 and it didn't work

now all i wish for is just the select all healthy units function. can you imagine how easy it would be to control 50 bombers with that function? just 1 key to select all healthy bombers for bombing, and leave the injured ones healing for the turn. or take all healthy units from a stack and rest all damaged ones...
 
Yeah I like to separate all my healthy units to continue fighting while my healthy one waits a few turns to heal.

It really bugs me that they are all mingled in the stack together in no particular order. All the injured ones should be at the front of the stack.

What would be even better is if there could be some kind of graphic like a glowing red cross maybe on the icons of wounded units.
 
I am not sure I would want a stack that large with colladeral dmg put in the game to discourage it.But I have'nt played that high of a level yet Either.Have'nt been there--Have'nt done that.
