This works on a Win7 PC and a Mac, very reliably:
Launch Civ5
Do reload game 20-30 times (ie: try for a good start for the gauntlet).
Then start playing a game.
After some number of turns you'll start seeing small black graphical glitches.
Later the game will crash.
The more restarts / back to opening menu's there are, the quicker it appears to happen.
Apologies if this is a known issue (also for not posting it a long time ago).
