Hey, I just wanted to ask a quick question about comm jammers - Do they only give bonuses against rovers and hovertanks, or airplanes, choppers, ships and hovercraft as well? Since Miriam seems to love attacking me with choppers, I've been building defensive units with AAA and ECM, I just wanted to know if the ECM is actually doing anything.

Also, I wanted to ask about bombardment, specifically when two artillery units face off. Do they both use their attack values for the fight, or does the defender still use their defense value? I ask because building artillery units with high defence is not cheap due to the def+speed-2 cost of the bombardment ability, and Miriam has been bombarding my coastal cities with her ships, so I'd like to know which units can best defend against that from the land. I also wonder whether ECM helps in this case against ships, as well.

Thanks a lot for your help.

IIRC, ECM only grants bonuses against fast land units (ie. Rovers and Hovertanks.)

As for artillery duels, only attack strength is used, so there's generally little point in putting armour on an artillery. As for what units to defend against sea-based attacks:

- Land based artillery gets a bonus against naval units in duels, so that alone should give you a slight advantage
- Probe teams are excellent on water since they can move quicker than on land and retreat to a land base and out of harm's way. However, they're probably not the best option against Believers.
- Not really sure how it works, but if you have an artillery unit that is within range of an enemy artillery or ship, and if that units fires on another square that does contain any of artillery units (ie. does not trigger a duel), then your artillery will fire on the enemy unit after it has fired on the targetted square. So let's say you have a ship shelling your improvements into dust: if you can get an artillery into range, then you will get a free attack on the enemy ship every time it fires.
- Terrain and Base bonuses work just as well against artillery as other attacks, so make sure you have sensors set up along the coast and perimeters around bases being hit. Bunkers are also great if you have to field artillery units away from base.
