Editing Default City Names

Hi there,

In older versions of civ I remember a file called something like cities.txt where you could easily edit the default city names for all the tribes.

Does anyone know where a similar file exists in civ 3 conquests? I've been searching through all the various directories.

The reason I ask is because I've noticed a few errors in the city names. For example at least one of the default French cities is actually German city which were only recently captured (ie WW II) by the French. Although now a French city in the real world, that name should really by in the German list of city names.

Also I'm Canadian and I like to have all Canadian names for the cities but don't have the patience to type the names in each time I build a new city.

Thanks,
Draven

Go to Civilization III\Conquests\civ3mod.biq. Then, inside the ditor that comes up go to the scenario tap and click custom rules. Click ok for the pop up then go to the rules tab, go to edit, then civilizations. There'll be a list in the center of the screen with city names for each one.

Great thanks, that worked perfectly.

Here's my official recommendation for Civ4: Make this settings file editable with a fancy editor for people doing big changes or creating custom scenarios, but leave it in a human readable format, for people who want to make small changes by hand.
