So, I played an Elohim game yesterday, just me and all the Evils on a standard Erebus map. I thought it was going to be more of a challenge than it was, so I put the difficulty two below my normal Emperor, and pretty much steamrollered the game with the two Order heroes. After an initially slightly tough battle with the Svartalfar (or 'elven skanks') as I referred to them after they torched my second city and came right up to the gates of the Abbey, I never ran into anything tougher than Archers or Swordsmen, most of whom ended up falling in line behind Sphener.

As a result, I didn't really get to play with the possibilities of Tolerance that much, which was the initial point of the game, but one thing did come up - the Elohim can build the Ilian rituals in captured Ilian cities! Or, at least, they can do the Deepening and the White Hand, which was as far as I got. So, the question is - can they ascend Auric?

I can see the lore behind this - Auric, fallen on the steps of the palace, as Einon Logos extends the hand of mercy to him - and he promises loyalty, but schemes in private ... but part of me thinks it would be awfully nifty if the Elohim just decided that the best way to preserve the world would be to freeze it against hell, and there was a special Easter Egg Einon Ascended unit with a white-bearded kindly face ...

Now, I wonder, if you took one Ilian city and left the Civ alive, could you *both* perform the rituals and have two Aurics dueling it out?

...and there was a special Easter Egg Einon Ascended unit with a white-bearded kindly face...

I suddenly have an image, not of Einon Logos, but of a Santa/Mulcarn hybrid.
The more I think about it, though, the clearer it becomes. How does Santa feed his lackeys? Indeed, why would an old man from the icy wastes give away toys... unless he needed worshipers...
Ah, yes. It all makes sense now...

I wholly support such an easter egg. This game doesn't have enough *real* easter eggs... lots of references that people refer to as easter eggs but really aren't, at all.

Thats hilarous.

Also, it's kind of fun to come up with reasons to wage aggressive war as the Elohim, given their supposed love of peace. With the Svartalfar, they were first encountered by my two Lizardmen scouts (from the event), who had been proslytised by the Elohim but hadn't quite got it, and were naturally disgusted by the Svartalfar's habit of displaying their disgusting mammalian nature front-and-centre, rather than wearing nice all-covering robes like civilised people.

Actually, that whole war was weirdly hilarious. First Sala and Mander (the Lizardmen) died (the Svarts had a whole lot more hunters than I expected), then I went RoK - hey, if Lizards don't work, maybe Dwarfs will! Then Grumpy, Sneezy, and Sleepy (my Kilmorph warriors) died holding the valley, and I got the Hill Giant event. I could just see Einon wandering around, thinking about which race to try *next.*

Now, what happens if you ascend Auric as the Elohim, then get AA killed? Do you lose your traits?
