I just finished Monarch Level games and just did quite well (esspecially with my strat ;) ). Though when I started my Emperor Game all went wrong. Other civs began crowding me, got beaten to meany techs, and there was a civil disorder like every turn because I forgot. Does anyone there that has finished an Emperor Game quite well have any pointers?? I already know about the War Academy, read almost all of them.

:) I'm trying to move on to diety, if you can get out of the early ages in one piece then emporer is pretty much just like Monarch after that. Bee line for the GL if you can, if I can't get the GL I will turn science all the way down and buy, buy, buy, and after you buy, trade to civs that don't have the techs, this also will keep them happy and they won't be so anxious to fight you. Get resourses if you can, you're people aren't as happy at Emporer level (build temples and cathedrals and try for sistine and bachs if you can. Don't freak if you get too far behind in techs in the middle ages. With infantry and artillery you can hold off any civ, then wait till the modern age when you get tanks MA and MI.

What Civ are you playing? Some are easier than others..

Have fun and good luck...

MM is critical on the higher difficult levels.
Just check your adviser before you end your turn, i doubt you will have 50 cities... ;)
If you played well on Monarch, Emperor will be feasible.
The initial expansion stage is of similar difficulty, because the AI doesn't get a second settler. Of course, you will have to change your research strategy.
While you can out-research monarch AIs,
try to beat the Emperor-AI on some techs and sell them around, buy other techs from them and sell them to weaker civs.
Don't fall behind and you will have little problems. ;)

Thank you two, I just started the Emperor and it went out pretty well untill now. I have the most territory the most cities but my science is bad and I placed my cities kinda close. It looks pretty good, I got the Great Library, a GL for FP. And I took out the Arabs and the Babs. Please tell me how this game should end. As I heard that if your cities are too close that you will not make it in the Modern Ae or after Sanitation.

One of the keys to playing on higher levels is trading. Get used to checking every possible trade every turn. Write down whats available from whom every turn and you get to see the patterns. Who has what and how the prices shift. On Emperor its more feasible to buy techs that research them. If you can buy a tech known only to 2 or 3 then sell it to the rest you can maintain equality. Thus early contacts are essential - got out there as fast as you can.

You could post a screenshot.
This would make it easier.... ;)

You have gotten good comments so far. Yes, micromanagement is a key to higher levels. Also, use lux slider for happiness early on--growing your cities (i.e., keeping workers working) is key.

Tech brokering is a must--look for 2-fers and 3-fers whenever they present themselves. 40-turn tech gambits are also good--even if you do not get the tech first, you may get it in time to broker--or, just get the tech for free. You have to look for the techs that the AIs do not immediately prize (math, currency, poly are some). Pre-builds for later wonders are needed. While you can get some ancient and middle age wonders on emperor--don't count on it, and as said before, you should not count on getting TGL as your only strategy. You just keep plugging on--even if you are way behind, some good trading will get you right back in the mix of things--remember that techs are discounted as more civs learn them. The longer the game lasts, the better for the human player--always able to better use production and commerce in the industrial and modern ages.

I am SURE that this is only scratching the surface--Read a few of the succession games from the forum--you will get a great feel for how the experienced (not me, by the way) deity players tackle a game. Emperor strategies are very similar, just that small mistakes are more easily overcome.

Good luck as you take on more challenge!
