All you fine strategy fans out there , good news -Civilization V has been released. Its called Empire:Total War. They intorduced Technology tree, indepth diplomacy and expanded economy options in total war. Plays alot like civ- plus all those 22nd century graphics can really show off my liquid cooled quad 4. Anyone who has a good machine - I highly reccomend to try it.

Yeah, except that it doesn't include anything besides the 18th.19th centuries... amirite?

Don't forget it's an RTS whereas Civ is a TBS...

After playing RTW civ4 hasn't been very appealing to me anymore, and to tell the truth, I'd rather see civilization developing in that direction: the battles as real time strategy. There could be also different battle systems for different eras, modern computers make it possible.

The battles are really the only thing the Total War series does better than Civ. I don't mind the somewhat simplified battles of Civ, as that is not what I play it for. Although some kind of combinatino would be cool.

If you auto-resolve every battle, you can sort of think of it as a custom scenario from Civ 4.

But then you're getting to such an obscure and vague point that it's no longer worth the use except to associate it with the Civilization franchise.

"I got a new dog! It's this small orange thing, not sure of the breed. Look!" "That's a cat." "Pardon?" "Look, it's a cat. A ginger tabby." "Is that a kind of dog?" "No, it's ca t, I just said that. For Christ's sake, it just meowed." "I, er, I don't follow." "It. Is. A. Cat." "..." "Which is different than a dog." "But it's a new dog."

So as to save us the bother of arguing about this.
