Encourage Peace

I think this may be a bad idea. It happens in SMAC, that you can request two factions(nations) to make peace. It happens all too easy. Mind you I only play these games on the easy level specialist (warlord) maybe that is why they make peace so easy.

Probably, I never really got into SMAC much, but I do agree this would be a very good option, I think diplomacy in civ has always been a little to bland and uninteresting, the computer players would take into account everything they know on your current power compared to yours and make a decision on weither to simply ignore your threat or to comply. 1 thing they would really need with this feature is to make it a 2 way street, you can request that nation A stop his war with nation B, but there its possible for nation B to not be interested in peace and refuse.

Or maybe you can go so far as to request nation C to assist you in demanding nation A make peace with nation B... :mischief:

Sounds like a good idea Gogf, but only if you are a small nation, who doesn't have mch power but you know anation that likes you and has lots of power, and Trio if you are really powerful you could just tell Nation A to play nice with Nation B or that you will turn the whole world against them, or if you happen to be a huge civlization and they are small that you will just go over and crush them like a puny little bug if they don't behave.

NOT that i'm violent or anything

I agree with this idea, in principle-and really liked it in SMAC. As suggested earlier, I think that a civs 'Diplomatic Standing' (as defined my relative military, economic and cultural strength) should play a part in how successful such demands might be!
