Now I believe I read rumors about there being a new UI.
Not much information was released but I wonder if it'll improve something I really dislike about the UI as it is now.

At the end of the turn you get these messages on the right side. Usually it's nothing big because nothing happens but when deals end or when wars start I'll have a huge list to look through.
It can get really annoying when you fight against Greece which allies with over 8 city states, just to see war messages every time he goes to war.

Does anyone know if it will be improved in GK? If not, do you think it should be?

Personally I would like the messages to be replaced with a box that shows all the things that happened in a nice list. Wars, trade deals ending, new discoveries and much more in one convenient location so you don't have to scroll through piles of notifications.

The only difference that I am aware of is that they are giving the Art Deco style a Baroque feel. I don't think that the actual functionality is changing at all.

While I like the UI on the whole, you are right that there is certainly room for improvement when it comes to the notifications, especially the bulk city-state war declarations.

It's certainly possible there'll be some slight tweaks to how the UI operates, but nothing so drastic that they would tout it as a major feature of the expansion. I think we'll have to wait and see.

As I recall in one of the demos they showed at PAX, this issue was addressed by lumping the city-state allies as a group. My mind may be fuzzy on this, so don't quote me on it. I do know for sure that there have been tweaks, though. For example, when a city can attack it now has a bulls-eye icon for the notification instead of the generic "!" icon.

I agree that this is annoying and hard to wallow through. I just posted in another thread how the end of turn stuff needs to be fixed anyway. I have a tough time knowing when one turn ends and the next begins. I know there is a turn counter, but it's so small and insignificant.

I need an easier log.

Interface is corrupt.

The turn notification log in general is frustrating. As the messages appear, you can see your machine churn, churn, churning through the AI's actions. So you go to look at the notifications, but your machine isn't really ready to give you that info. It's currently thinking too hard.

I also wish I just didn't have to click on "so-and-so declared war on so-and-so" messages at all. My interaction should not be necessary there. I probably spend more time going through notifications on a large game than I do going through my actual actions for a turn.

I wish you could be given the option to renew deals/continue them instead of getting a billion notifications every 30 turns and taking a good amount of time going and making them again...

This is really nice, and something I did not know. I really like little touches like this, a good sign for the expansion pack.

I really really hope that they make the diplomacy UI more clear and practical! For instance, AI attitude and reasons for that should be displayed on the same panel as the resources they have to offer and the resources that they want from you.

Instead of a list of words detailing each AI's friends, denouncements and City State allies under the "Global Diplomacy" tab, there should be some sort of graphical arrangement. I thought the diplomacy web used in Civ3 and Civ4 to be a good place to start. Perhaps, there should even be a different coloured groups that show each AI's friends and enemies...

It would also be handy for this info to be readily available when an AI makes a proposal to you on their turn. For example, if Gandhi asks for a Declaration of Friendship in his turn, I should be able to check who his friends and enemies are before I make my decision. Any thoughts?

Oh yes, please. Do want.

What makes it really bad as it stands is that if you turn them down so that you can check the diplomacy overview and then decide to befriend them come your turn, they won't even entertain the notion.
