Hello,

I'm new at playing Civilization.

I've won a few times reaching the Alpha Centauri, and there is an animation
at the end when you win.

I haven't been able to conquer the world yet. I'm tight but I always miss
the end date (frustrating at times). Is there a special animation when
you conquer the world?

Is there any other special ending animations? Like when you loose?
Is there an animation when you let a Rival win the Alpha Centauri?

If you decide to go on after 2100, is there a final year where
you can't go on any further? Or what is the most years anyone
ever reached?

Thanks.

Ok, so I won finally the Conquer The World, playing Alexander The Gay. There is an animation
of each enemy that you defeated (a portrait room), and I also saw the animation (just a still
image) for when you loose (when you are destroyed).

I like to play Alexander The Gay because to me he defined the most the ideal of Civilization,
which was uniting different people, no matter their religion, race, or indeed, sex orientation (ahem).

The music I prefer is the Caesar theme (I'm playing DOS Cd-Rom version, soundblaster),
so it is great to meet him or play him just so you can hear his music.

The character I prefer to meet for the graphics is Shaka. He just look so cool.
I love Shaka's style. That's why I don't play him, I just want to meet him.

Cheers,

Someone once mentioned that "the meteorite inevitably hits in 5000 A.D.", but that was never confirmed.

I remember seeing the thread where the asteroid was mentioned. Someone posted that they had played past 5000 without an asteroid strike. I just don't remember if they mentioned what level they were playing.
Maybe you only get the year 5000 asteroid if you are playing at Emperor.

There is a special animation sequence for when you lose. I'm surprised you haven't seen it. Odds are, after a few dozen games, a rival is going to pop a cavalry hut and explore towards your first city.

@valen
What are all the pointless mechanics about, anyway? Pollution suddenly goes nuts around FuTech 50+, and the world ends in 5000? Did the devs really put in these limits, and why?

By playing post-2100, another civilization reached Alpha Centauri, and I realized that not only
you get the same ending animations even after 2100, but you can still build your Spaceship
after someone else have reached Alpha Centauri.

The manual isn't clear about this. Basically everything is the same after 2100 except that
there is no more Score. I thought the Space Race could only be won if it was before 2100
(you can still win anything in Civilization without the scores, and to me winning the war or
the space race is more important than the Score).

I wonder if there is an animation for Global Warming catastrophy.
I have to try polluting.
