Ok i am playing civ3 original version since 2002 and i never had "play the world and conquest". i have played this game for more than 1000 hrs and perfected this game. i win every game at diety level.

Recently i bought civ3 gold edition and it has play the world and conquest. i started a game and attacked an enemy city after only like 9-10 turns in the beginning of the game. the enemy city is destroyed and i cant capture it and i see no option to capture the city like in original civ3. i want to capture the enemy city instead of destroying it. how to solve this problem i see no options for it. please help.

Welcome to CFC, nirjan regmi!

What you're seeing is the enemy city "autorazing." Whenever you capture a city that has not grown and has no amassed any culture (or maybe hasn't amassed 10 culture points, I'm not sure which), it autorazes. AFAIK, there's nothing you can do except either wait for it to grow, or wait for it to build some culture. Otherwise, when you capture a city, you'll get a popup box which will ask whether you want to keep it or raze it.

Um, Civ 3 Gold only had Play The World, or at least my did, several years ago.

If you have Conquests, you should be able to build The Statue of Zeus and be able to play as Sumeria.

Having said all of that, you may have both Play The World and Conquests and both of them may have installed, but you can still decide which version you want to play.

If you do have Conquests, I think you will like it better than PTW.

And by the way,

Hi CommandoBob, Aabraxan, Lord Emsworth, thank u all for replying. I tried to capture the enemy city immediately after it is built (next turn). Autorazing is new to me.

And I never knew such great forum for civ games exists otherwise I would have joined it earlier. This site is great and has lots of resources.

Thank u all.

Yeah, you can't capture it that early. They have to be of a certain size before you get the option to keep it or not. You will find that your own cities will autoraze if they are too small and are attacked as well.
