Who gets the profit from a mine developed by an opposing civs workers in your territory? Recentely Byzantine workers made a road and mine in my territory. I contacted them several times with demands to leave but then I got curious and let them complete what they were doing. How do I find out if I get the profit from this mine?

If the mine is within one of your city radii and a citizen from that city works the tile, you get the benefit.

As Longshot said, they were prolly trying to complete a trade route. Why they built a mine is beyond my comprehension.

Don't waste your time trying to kick out workers from your territory - they won't go.

:)

In fact probably your city has stolen an AI city's tile and computer haven't taken this in the calculs yet.

I got a city by flipping, and the worker that was next to it continued to clear the jungle until it was done! Nice!!

The AIs workers never end prematurely their work.

I have had similar situation recently. That was really unexplainable because enemy worker moved to one of my core cities far from the border of my empire and started to build a mine there. Maybe he was just crazy...

HungryMouse > I'd love to see that as a feature in civ4, when your civ is cultural superior then your neigbor civ workers start to build mines & irrigate your land :D

...in a futile hope to get naturalised and become citizens of my mighty empire, huh? Just like millions of illegal immigrants in the US working for just a couple of bucks per h. Very realistic, indeed.

Good one Mouse

Another question...why does the computer tell me to withdraw my troops when it's just a couple workers? Why do they care? Sometimes the computer needs help building roads (that connect within their territory for my personal trade routes :mischief: ).

Thanks for the answers. So if they want to give me free improvements, I'll let them. Hopefully I'll notice if they're changing an improvement. I think Khan hit the nail on the head.

Yeah, I think they complete their work when you "steal" a tile from them by cultural expansion.

:)

I've had the pesky things changing my grassland mine to irrigation ... and as mentioned there was just no get out of my territory option ... strange

Workers and scouts are no-threat units (no attack or defense values) - so you can't boot them (unless there are military units in your territory too).

They ask me to remove my workers  .
