Epic game for all Techs?

Hi all

Just started playing Civ4 BTS and thought there would be lots of extra future techs beyond genetics etc?? Is it just the fact im not playing an epic game or have they not put futuristic techs in? I thought the whole point of 'beyond the sword' was to be able to play a bit further into the future??

The main game does not contain much in the way of future tech. The whole point of "beyond the sword" was to focus on the gunpowder era onwards, not specifically a futuristic era. There is a somewhat extended version of the tech tree included as the "Next War" mod, though this isn't the standard game.

So im not missing out on units that are available when i choose epic for custom game?

I mean i have modern armour, mech inf, paratroopoer, mobile artillary etc etc i was just expecting some more modern units to play with. so is Genetics the last tech before the future techs?

Once you have genetics you can research future tech (basically dummy techs that jusst boost health and happiness), though it's usually far from the last tech to be researched. in my experience Stealth is the last tech to be reached, or maybe fusion, but both generally take much longer to reach than genetics.

The units you list are some of the most advanced, you won't see more futuristic than that outside of a mod.
