Era Advancement (from Techs)

What technologies trigger the advancement to a new era? Random event quests fail if you haven't succeeded before, for example, "reaching the Industrial Era". So a list would be helpful in knowing what to avoid researching in order to succeed in the quests.

And, are there different trigger-techs if you start on a different era? I thought Steam Power, for example, advances you to the Industrial Era. At least, when you choose an Industrial Start (where you are 1 tech away from actually being in the Industrial "Era"), I thought the first 3 techs you could research (Scientific Method, Steam Power, Steel) all "advanced to Industrial Era". It seems that when you start on Renaissance that Steam Power and maybe even Assembly Line doesn't yet trigger the advancement to the Industrial Era.

So, what I'm looking for is a list of all techs that trigger every "Era". It would look something like this:

-Starting on Ancient-
BronzeWorking, Writing, PigWorking = Classical
IronWorking, Alphabet, HorseWorking = Medieval
etc, etc, etc, = Renassiance

-Starting on Classical (assuming that the list would be any different than Ancient)-
IronWorking, HorseWorking, Literature = Medieval

You get the idea. Thanks!

I'm not sure if different advance starts change the tech tree. But then, I usually play advance start so I'm not really sure about it. Anyways, before you research the tech when you scroll over for info, it should say that it will advance you to a certain era. For example, before you research Scientific Method, when you scroll over it, it will list what obsoletes, what it leads to, what units it unlocks, what resources it unlocks, what buildings it unlocks, and under that it should list if it will advance you to the next era.

Actually, I believe that that's a BUG mod feature. I don't remember seeing it before installing BUG.

the tech itself will tell you right below where it shows what it does. i.e. iron working reveals iron, allows swordsman, and advances to classical era.

No, I don't have the BUG mod and it has always told me if the tech would advance me.

I don't know about advanced starts, but as far as the ancient era starts are concerned every tech has an 'era' it is associated with. The era flips after you've researched one technology associated with that era.

As far as my games personally go, at least 75% of the time my era advancements occur with the discoveries of:

Classical: Iron Working (sometimes Mathematics depending on the lie of the land)
Medieval: Civil Service
Renaissance: Education (nearly 100% of the time)
Industrial: Scientific Method
Modern: Radio

I wonder if the tip shows up when you have something like 'sids tips' checked. I should investigate this.

Edit: they don't show it. Started a new game without mods and the message was not there.

edit2: I wonder if it only shows up if you have a quest?

-->Classical: Mathematics, Iron Working, Monarchy, Code of Laws, Aesthetics, Alphabet, Metal Casting, Horseback Riding
-->Medieval: Theology, Feudalism, Machinery, Music, Philosophy, Civil Service
--> Renaissance: Education, Nationalism, Printing Press, Astronomy, Gunpowder
--> Industrial: Scientific Method, Steel, Steam Power
--> Modern: Rocketry, Refrigeration, Radio, Plastics, Flight, Ecology
--> Future: Genetics, Stealth, Fusion
