Era choosing ?

Maybe it would be a good idea, to prevent civs to have the same cities, to have some sort of drop-down menu in wich you cold choose between, say the Ottomans and the Byzantines, so you couldn't have them both in the same game. Every civ should have 1 ancient, 1 medieval and 1 modern equivalent.

Well the Ottomans and the Byzantines controlled different territories, so if they have the same city names then it's the fault of the programmers, and shouldn't mean we should have to drop one.
