Error 1706 when installing 1.52 patch

I posted this somewhere else but i'm going to try making it a thread of its own - Thanks for everyone who tried to help already - no luck yet


Please Help,

Every time i attempt to install the 1.52 patch i get the following problem

"Error 1706.No valid source could be found for
product Sid Meier's "

The installation continues afterwards but I’m pretty sure it does not fully install the patch. For instance the "Memorysavor" addition in the .ini file is not present

- I've already done a complete re-install
- Although i'm sure it does not matter the cd was in when the patch was being installed


Any help would be great!!

How are you patching, in game or did you download a patch.

I got this error message even when I installed Civ4 fresh.
I just clicked OK/Contiue.

Then I got it when I patched to 1.09.
I just clicked OK/Contiue.

Then I got it when I patched to 1.52.
I just clicked OK/Contiue.


My game 'seems' working fine, as I can play single (played a few games already) and it loads saved games (Succession games work fine).
I did NOT try Multiplayer yet though.

is your game working? Single player?

I see lots and lots of people have this error, and I think even the developer himself just said click OK

I've always gotten this one (even during the beta) and never saw a problem from it.

Not too sure - I've had occasionaly Virtual Memory problems (esspically when i edit the map with the World Building)

- Also the feature that was supose to be installed "MemorySavor" in the patch i cant seem to find that anywhere in the .ini file
