Title says it all, i can play the game find and it runs with no problems, when i log back onto the game and try to load a saved game it Crashes to desktop. Any fixes would be appreciated.
Info: 1.52 patch
PIV2.6
Radeon 9700 Latest drivers
1.0gb ram

Plenty of machine to run the game, and it runs fine. It just crashes when i try to load the saved games. Well thanks in advance:cry:

ATI video cards seem to be hated by this game and patch 1.52 makes that abundantly clear. I suggest going back to v1.09 for the time being as I intend to shortly. There's a link someone posted in a thread I started asking where to find it.

Its not a simplistic "hates all ATI cards" - countless number of people are running ATI cards successfully with Civ IV

Did you have V1.09 on the machine before applying 1.52 Patch ? If so, do a total re-install (quite a few users reported problems patching over the top of V1.52)

- If you did the 1.52 patch install via the game interface, move the patch file away from the Civ directories
- Add remove programs, select civ, deinstall
- manually check that the Civ IV Sub directories in

programs
My Documents / My Games

have been deleted, if not delete them

Reload from discs
apply the V1.52 patch

If still issues, return with a copy of your Dxdiag

Stay with the V1.52 - there were some nasty memory issues resolved with that patch, not using it will only serve to mask the true issues

Have you tried starting a new game then saving, closing out program, loading the program then the save from a new game?

Or, are you having problems just with old save?

Is your machine running overclocked in any way?

This can cause the game to crash while loading a saved game.

No, not overclocked and i just did a clean install of Windows Xp to make sure that i didnt have any other issues with the OS. New updated drivers, and tried numerous other fixes that are posted here and on the Take2website. Thanks for your continuted assistance.
Thanks

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz, ~2.7GHz

That is a line from your diag. What speed was your chip advertised as?

Is this a brand name computer? If so what is the make and model number?

If not, what is make and model number of your motherboar?

Thanks

PS. The reason why I asked about OC is that I can reproduce your error on my machine when I overclock in the tinyest way.

Advertised as a PIV 2.66 533mhz frontside bus CPU
Systemax Venture series PC.
This is my Work Computer, it has zero overclocking done to it by me, thats left for my gaming machine :crazyeye:. Just wanted to load the game on this machine because its more stable but this is beginning to errk the nerves. Take2tech support is a joke. Dont waste your time calling there. Again thanks for the help.

Model number of your systemax?

Btw.

Can you play civ overclocked on your other machine and load saves etc etc?

I want to play the game on this machine and dont feel like jeopardizing the stabilty of my other machine with all of its saved games on it. Any concrete attempts at fixing the issue would be appreciated. I'm not a computer Noob, so any registry tricks and tweaks are easily handled, im just at a lost at what the issue can be. Overclocking is the not the issue with the machine.
Thanks Again
