I downloaded artemisarrow's lovely Classical World map a while ago, only to decide that it was way too big for me to enjoy fully. So, I decided to create one of half the dimensions or so (160x60, iirc)

It was my first time making a map based on the real world or another map, so I decided to make a broad outline of the coast, then detail the coast, then upload that for comment before getting invested in terrain.

The idea is to make a map that looks, plays and feels right, without necessarily actually being accurate. Image (and fun) beats reality! So the best advice you can give me is stuff like "Italy looks messed up, put another square to the west" instead of "Italy is slightly disproportionate when compared to Japan" if you catch my drift. Basically, look at the screenshots below, and tell me what your gut says I should do.

Right now, I'm unhappy with the look of Italy and Greece. Could just be that they're grassland, which makes weird coasts. Or they could be wrong. L to the M to the K.

I'm also attaching the biq in case anyone wants to make some coastline edits themselves.

The map actually goes south three or four more squares. I'm thinking of moving everything south a few notches, to give Scandanavia and England more space.

I've tried to make Korea and Japan viable places for civs, for obvious reasons. I'm not certain about the islands to the south, however. Taiwan yes, but the others, I don't like, and probably wouldn't really be used for any game or scenario on this map.

I like the size of it, from what I can tell from the screenshots.

This is very good, terrain would be nice.

Italy doesn't look that far off to me. Greece, however, needs a bit of work. My suggestion would be to make it a bit closer to Asia Minor (or add in a couple of islands) and try to get the shape of the Peloponnese right. Korea might need just a bit of work (make the Ohai sea go into Korea a bit, straighten it, and round it at the end.)

another note - the RED SEA should be narrower, i.e. only 2 quares wide.
otherwise very nice looking.
go for terrain, and ill surely play it out.

Give the extra squares to Saudi Arabia, not Egypt

Don't expect comments from the people who download your map either, you probably will never get any.
