Yesterday I saw the game between Greece and Bosnia for Eurobasket 2001 which is held in Atalya, Turkey...

In the first 20 minutes the Bosnians (who are all serbs) were leading with a small difference. But then the Greeks started scoring a lot, and 7 minutes later they were 20 points ahead. The victory was certain.
People started throwing objects into the field and the Bosnian players were more and more

During a Greek attack a Bosnian player hit the Greek player who had the ball in the stomach. The Greek player then hit back and threw the other on the ground (in the replay it's obvious that he exagerated).
The result was a fight between players of the two teams that lasted 30 seconds. A referee also got injured, hit by a Bosnian player (!!!)

After some thoughts the referees decided the following:
7 players from each team would be discalified for this game.

Greeks were 30 points ahead and Bosnians were

as only 4 minutes were left and they coudn't win anymore. They voluntarily comited fouls (spelling?) so that they are obliged to leave the game.

Result?
For the last 2 minutes of the game the Bosnians had 2 players in and the Greeks 5!!!

Man! It's probably the first and the last time I ever see that in a basketball game.

I had to play a tournament myself. Those guys were crazy. 25 min playing, 5 minutes resting, 25 min. playing, 5 min. resting, 25 min. playing. I was broken after those 3 games. Well, at least I scored my points as center, but it wasn't enough to win more than 1 game.

Man, Eurpoean Basketball's worse then the South American variety (big insult)! I was reading an article in SLAM once and it mentioned a guy getting smoked in the back by a thrown car-stereo while playing in Greece (Az, I'm looking at you

)

So are these the qualifiers for the Worlds next year? I hope France gets through. They're on our revenge list

Greece lost to Germany and came back home...

I can't believe we were so stupid! Were 20 points ahead for the first 20 min. of the game!!!


I now hope France takes it...

Actually, I think there are 2 different European championships, so Tel-Aviv has only half the championship.

There is now one and only European Champoinship.

But guys just to remind you...

Greece has the Best and most expensive Championship in europe (I mean national championship) and thus the second in the world...

Yugoslavia won the championship after beating Turkey in the burning Stadium of Constantinople!

I'm happy because almost all the Yugoslav player have played in a greek team once, many of them speak greek and some even have the greek nationality.
