Booting up Civ VI for the first time in almost a year (latest update and all DLC, some mods, no R&F) and having problems with excessively long load times. Currently, it takes almost 10 minutes for the game to completely boot up to the start menu. I've tried running on DirectX 11 instead of 12, disabling mods, disabling Steam Overlay, verifying files, but nothing works. It's not a game-breaking issue, but it certainly is annoying. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

P.S. I do not think that this is caused by the infamous "Windows Defender bug," since Windows Defender is disabled on my computer.

I can't give you a definitive answer, but map size, your processor, and graphics card (as well as it being up to date) effect load times. Suggest you post these so that someone who is knowledgeable in hardware stats can help with your problem.

Further experimentation has yielded an interesting result: when I run the game in DirectX 11, the load time is normal; in DirectX 12, it's unbearably long.
