I dont know, I either am not quite familiar with the interface yet, or I just seem completely aimless... Like, you just start off so incredibly slow and pressing turn after turn waiting for something to build or something...

I would first recommend watching the videos and going over the tutorials that are available. Otherwise, take the time to read through these, and the Gal Civ forums for advice people give.

Always feel free to ask questions. :)

I'm fairly new to galciv to. Those vid tutorials are simply . .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Nothing usefull in them. This is the first time i looked into the galciv forum here.

I don't know, about you. But when i started and experimented I found out how to start. I recommend that you do the same. If you really can't get it:

After a few tries I found out buying Factory's, buying some colony ships is the best way to start. I'll leave the rest up to you. You can always read some articles or forums like these. That helped me a lot with another game: Civ4.

Yep, experimenting & reading the manual does help (I always start experimenting, then browse through the manual to fine-tune some things that I have overlooked).

Basically the things to do at the start is:
1) Build
2) Explore (auto-survey and/or auto-explore work fine at lower difficulty levels). As soon as you find planets of quality higher than 5-6, get a colony ship there asap.
3) If you have Dark Avatar, automate the miner
4) Research
5) Interact with other civs you meet (especially trade technologies)

If you have more specific questions, feel free to post them here...

PS I would agree to buy some factories (rather than waiting for them to be completely built) but for tiny/small galaxies it's not necessary to buy more than 1-2 colony ships. Buying too many will cripple your economy since it takes a while before you start making money each turn.

This thread should have been stickied long ago. Some of the tips are no longer relevant due to changes in the game - but read it all anyway as it gives a good general overview. (And some of the later posts take into account some of the things that changed)

Oh and do NOT buy a factory on turn one. Buy an Entertainment Center if you're inclined to buy something since that caps your Approval (double population growth - to sustain colony efforts easily). Buying the factory just helps further tank your early economy because the maint cost of that building is quite high.
