IMHO, the diplomacy screen (F4) should be reworked, or an option added:

I usually play with full civs (currently 31 civs on a huge map), and it is a real pain to go through them all, one by one, on every turn, especially when it becomes too tight on tech race and other deals/resources (you need to know exactly which civ lacks such or such tech, and sell it to them before someone else does.)

Ideally, we should have the option to have a spreadsheet like view, that summarizes what you could sell for each civ (resource, lux, tech), what they can sell you (res, lux, tech), the amount of gold each has in its treasury, etc., which would save a lot in terms of time, as you would know exactly which civ you can directly trade with, rather than checking for each civ what it can buy from you, etc.

(similar to the trade advisor where it tells you from who you could buy a needed resource, and tp who you could sell..., but for techs too...)

I thought it would just make it easier...

I agree, it's a pain now so they should make it more accesssible, but in the end I'd rather see a total change they way techs are traded. The way it works now is neither fun or realistic.

I think the graphical representation, while neat, is actually a detriment to understanding world relations.

A simple list would do.

I also think that espionage needs to either be tied into diplomacy, or given its own screen. It's ridiculous that you can go through pages of different interface elements, but there's one page of special functions that can only be accessed by clicking on a city.

I think a graphical representation would be nice. But when you get more then 8 civs, it is too crowded. Therefore, I would like to have both the graphical representation and tables. It is QUITE annoying to look through ten civs just to ensure the civ I am attacking does not have any alliances with another civ, when a table could display this information so much easier.

Don't get me wrong, it's good looking, but for all the effort it takes to design, implement, and test an interface, it might be more work than it's worth. If it were just a question of making it in Adobe Photoshop, then it would go in without question, but tying each picture and each line to a button and a calculation is more work than it seems.

Just go with one interface. And a table seems to be the most flexible for bigger games.

It's true that the table simplifies things, and surely will make the game more performant in terms of processing speed (if you can choose the option not to see the faces and their animation - you could have a field where you see if the AI is furious, annoyed or whatever) :)

I'd like to be able to insult the AI as much as they do me.....

Or goad them into war.......

I hate demanding stuff....... but not having a direct give me that or we are at war option.... so they just insult me.........

sure i can declare war, but does the AI understand why i did it?

I'd also like to be able to send personalised insults/greetings in multiplayer diplomacy

Even a small change, like beeing able to "zoom out" the f4-screen would be enough if you could get all civs and their relations to each other in one wiev.
Of course the more info you could get the better.
