so far the armies of Fanatikos have only killed and pillaged Germans and Barbarians. but shouldn't we look towards killing the true threat to Fanatikos saftey: France and Rome. They have a good relationship with each other, entering each borders freely. They are also both polite to us and have never been at war with us. but they hold valuable land and resources near our border. here's a picture of valuable enemy land we could certainly use:

In the above map France controls several fur resources as well as bonus wheat resources. Rome has claimed several sea resources, as well as land animal resources. Not only that, but most the land by these cities is green grasslands and thick forests. A war with France and/or Rome in the future would be very beneficial for us. So, what do you say Fanatikos? When should we declare war on these nice, but devious enemies?

I don't think Besancon should be our choice city. While it is at a good site I don't think we should take it over Paris. As for rome, Hispalis is my choice.

Paris has the Great Wall, and I suspect it will get Sun Tzu's, or possibly Leo's if Rome beats them and they know invention at that time, and it is quite productive, so I wouldn't go for Besancon. I haven't really considered Roman cities yet. I think maybe we could go to war in two turnchats or so.

I would like to point out for roman cities. It really wouldn't be very beneficial to take a core roman city or one in their actual empire due to the corruption and threat of flip or capture. That is why my choice, Hispalis is probably the best, but that is just my opinion.

The risk of a captured Roman city flipping back is minimal if we carry through with the correct strategy. Rome and France need to be culled back to the point where they are no longer a threat. Doing that would let us keep whichever city from each that we want without risk.

The furs can be acquired with a colony, but we then have to declare the surrounding area a "no settle" zone and mercilessly enslave any foreign settlers who dare to enter it.

declare war on france right now and capture the workers

I don't think war is a good idea right now, especially since it will screw up trades and such. maybe the TC after Provo's...

Those barsteds in rome have given has ampal provocation. Lets take Hispalis asap*.

Which will take a some time. Think about it, Rome has a stronger army then us we have quite a sizable army. Also, Hispalis is most likely heavily defended especially following the Roman build up of forces in their war with germany.

Our military is now stronger than France's. By the end of the upcoming turnchat, we should be able to build about 4 knights and upgrade a couple of horsemen, and Augean Stables will start producing crusaders, so I would push towards a war with France at the beginning of the turnchat following that. The problem is that pikemen behind walls will be difficult to kill, especially since they can't be bombarded (bug with free walls: they will try to destroy the undestroyable walls, so they will destroy improvements or wonders instead; when all improvements/wonders are destroyed, they'll simply fail to hit anything).
