EDIT: The source of the issue was MacType. I found that using the tray option and disabling Civ 4 did the trick.

Spoiler :

Hello! I'm having a serious problem with the fonts in Civ 4 - they're appearing all garbled and pretty much unreadable, especially at smaller sizes (i.e. in the game log).

Take a look. Warning: the image is quite huge.

I've tried removing Sylfaen from the fonts folder; that just gives me an equally garbled Arial. I've fiddled with the graphics settings to no avail. The only things I haven't tried are rebooting (which isn't really an option at the moment*) and reinstalling Civ (again, not really an option**)

A few other details:
I use a mod called BAT, which is an excellent general-purpose mod that doesn't affect gameplay at all but makes the game a lot nicer to look at as well as providing some useful things on the GUI (as you can see from my screenshot).

I'm using a program called MacType, which makes all Windows 7 fonts look a lot smoother and generally betterer. I don't believe this is causing the issue because I was playing Civ4 just the other day and it was fine.

Speaking of which, I was playing a multiplayer Civ4 game and I obviously had to revert from BAT to vanilla. This didn't cause any issues at the time. However, when I started Civ4 up earlier (to be met by the weird font thing) my settings had reverted to default.

PC specs, if they're of any use:

Thanks for any help you're able to give. Searching for this issue didn't seem to reveal much useful info.

*Rebooting my PC would cancel my YouTube upload. I will try it later, but for now I can't do it.
**Reinstalling Civ4 would affect both the aforementioned YouTube upload as well as be extremely slow anyway, considering that the Steam Summer sale is in full swing.

And also: if you can see anything I'm doing wrong tactically in the above picture, let me know ;)

EDIT: Reboot has no effect.
