Fatal Error

Hi all, I am new to this forum and looking for some help....I had CIV 4 (gold edition)...after playing for an hour, the game crashes and says "fatal error, bad memory" or something like that...I have a brand new system, is has VISTA, had 3GB memory 500GB hard drive space. I am up to date on all updates too...If anyone has any clue of what I should do, that would be great....Thanks

How much RAM do you have? I don't think it affects that but you never know.

Seriously: this is a problem the game has with very large maps and the like, you might want to:
increase the swap file to 2x your RAM and make sure to defragment your harddrive. If it occurs again, please post - I think there are a few more things but I have no time at the moment to dig through the old posts in this forum....

How to ya increase a SWAP file...this is all knew to me....appreciate the help so far though. I didn't have a big map, just a small one..

I do not have Vista, so I'll link you to a page which describes how you can check if it does it automatically (here). If it is set to automatic leave it at that.
You might want check out this thread - the fix described there is described for Vista - but note If you are unsure about what to do post there instead of screwing with you system without knowing what you do
