What is your favortite nation in playing civ1.

There is no Irish Civilization to choose from... at least in my version of the game.

You can customize your civ to whatever name you want.

Personally I like playing as one of the agressive civs (Russians, Zulus, Aztecs) so I don't have to face them as an opponent.

Are you sure? I have always thought that always the user takes the first turn.

I usually play the Romans because then I don't have any problems with Stalin, and then I usually immediatelt take out the French or Germans and the Greek with my second settler Because I almost always play the earth map...

or was it only in civ2 that way? can't remember, but it was important when building wonders finished on the same turn the white player got the wonder.

I usually pick the Russians, because I don't want to play against them. Also, they seem to have a slightly higher chance of starting with two settlers.

I play an aggressive civ, mongols, greeks, russians. Just so that I won't be bothered by them. Unless I want to have fun and just build a huge army and seriously go into battle. Then I play as americans or chinese so that I get all those really aggressive opponents.

A whole lot of us seem to have the same strategy.

I usually played the Russians, because White and Pink were such a !@#$% nuisance to play against. (And I find the Russians more interesting than the Romans.)

I really did prefer to play as a custom civ, but I would reload several times until I got one of the agressive civ's colours )

I like playing as the "Dragonsworn" and my leader is just the "Dragon". Who knows what I'm talking about?

I usually pick mine by the names of the cities. I'll play Russia, Rome, America, Germans. I like the German names the best, so there was a long string of german games.

The Babylonians. I believed without any foundation that they were the best for tech research. Maybe I like green.

Zulus are alone in Africa and are excellent to build a good core of cities strong enough to be unopposed any time, till King level.
