Throughout the long and varied period of the Earth's history that scientists now call the "Guns N Roses Era" many songs were covered and in my opinion IMPROVED by GNR.

But which was the best? You Decide.....

Knockin' on heaven's door was the best for me.
I liked the GnR performance on the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, I was quite amazed by the duet with Elton John and AXL. Such a strange combination those two!

They sure covered alot of friggin' songs! They did "Imagine", even?!

I guess my favorite one is Sympathy For The Devil, though I think the end of it goes on way too long.

live and let die. it's so silly :) plus, iirc, it's in Grosse Point Blank, which is a decent film. I get to see axl in a couple of weeks time, i can hardly wait... cough :p

Has to be Live and let die.

where in Groose Point Blank is it. I have it on video so I've watched it a lot but I can't remember it.

Covers were not their strength, IMHO. I never liked a one. Something about GnR that to me says they should have always sticked to playing their own stuff - at which they were very good.

i believe it's the scene with the shoot out in the convenience store where his house used to be.

Where is the cover of 'Look at your game, girl' by Charles Manson?

It was a bonus on the spaghetti incident (what a name for an album)

PS
I am not a fan of GNR.

I saw a live video of G'n'r at a friend's in uni and Axl did a solo piano version of 'It's Alright', which is probably the most obscure Black Sabbath song ever. It was sucha shock to hear him suddenly go into that after several minutes noodling.

Why no 'Nice Boys' on the poll? Definitely their best cover - the song that got me into them. I can't imagine what their version of Bohemian Rhapsody sounded like!

At the top for the graph you forgot one of their best ones, Free Falling, fromely done by Tom Petty. This a great song and with the help of Slash this song really is excellent.

Knockin' on Heaven's Door. It's impossible to improve on Dylan*, but their version was certainly much less objectionable than the Byrds' Mr. Tambourine Man, for instance.

*With the exception of Hendrix' All Along the Watchtower, which upon hearing Jimi's verison Dylan refused to perform again until Hendrix had died.

They absolutely ruined Sympathy for the Devil. I hope their version fades into obscurity and the original song by the Stones remains the most popular and heard version.

That said, Live and Let Die wasn't bad by them.

Though generally I just don't like remakes. About 95% of them are worse, 4% about the same, and 1% actually better.

Like I want to hear anyone but John Lennon singing 'Imagine'!
