In another thread about favourite sports games, it was suggested that a poll about your favourite type of sports game be posted. So here it is:

I voted for Soccer games. I've always had heaps of fun playing soccer games, from Kick Off to Sensible Soccer. My favourite is FIFA'98 on PSX, especially playing with or against friends. Hours of fun, trying to win the World Cup.

I like Football games (management and playing) and car racing. In the end though I voted for football management as its unliekly that it will get many votes.

Ice hockey! From Blades of Steel on the 8-bit Nintendo to the annual EASports offering... Good memories on those. But I didn't vote. Don't like the polls.

Hockey is the way to go, can't wait for NHL2003 by EA Sports, its going to be a blast!

It has to be ChampManager! I have CM97/98 but I have the latest stats from an update I got off the net. The game still feels fresh.

Though I prefer playing hockey to soccer, I haven't found many hockey games that I actually liked. Since I'd rather play something realistic than a cartoon, the NHL200x series keeps getting worse and worse every year. It is too bad that is about the only option these days. I've seen many more well implemented and fun soccer games.

Madden Football is the standard classic, though I can get sucked into any of the EAsports line and spent a long time at FIFA Road to the World Cup 98 and the NBA versions I have bought.

I am a big hockey fan, but I must say, EA has been doing a poor job. The goalie AI is very poor, in the first few hours of playing I found a couple of shots that guaranteed a goal. There is a spot on the blue line you can shoot from that will score 100% of the time guaranteed. And I hope they adopt a simulation style game for future NHL games instead of arcade style... Or at least and option for it.

And now they want you to pay to play multiplayer for it! Needless to say I didn't keep NHL 2k3 for very long...

I like golf games although they don't seem to have capitolized on gaming advancements very much.

But as far as actually playing,then it is easily any FIFA series games.My fav is 98:Road to France on N64 but any will do.Soccer just translates well into video games.

Hockey has always been abit of a dissapointmert to me.The ice just never seems right.Or moving on the ice always seems awkward to me.

Another "sport", (if you can call it that),that translates well into video games is wrestling of all things.

Have a hard time calling plays? You only have 8...4 rush... 4 pass

Have a hard time scoring? Make the scorebaord light up like a pinball machine.

Have a hard time on defense? It's not out there long...either 3 and out or....touchdown!

Difficult grasping dynamics of football? Throw 100 yd total BS passes...

Tronule using different buttons? Just zig-zag!

Not having fun? The game should be made for the arcades!

I didn't vote, because I like basketball, hockey, football, and racing games fairly equally.

Hmm, I have NFS 2, 3, HS, PU, and HP2, so I guess I could race, even though I've never tried multiplayer Need For Speed before. It doesn't cost a fee, does it? I would prefer Hot Pursuit 2, though, or maybe High Stakes or Porsche Unleashed, if you have any of them, instead of NFS 3.
