I just aquired a 3 in 1 printer/scanner/copier. I t does not have a stand alone fax built in (HP psc2110). Is there a utility that will let me use the scanner to send faxes?
I sincerely doubt it, i am fairly sure that you cannot Fax unless you have the Fax built in with the machine. I mean, you could scan faxes, and e-mail them, hehe. But otherwise, no, doesn't seem logical, if it doesn't have a build in Fax, you can't fax . . .
Actually you can, at least from a standalone scanner. Just use the "copy" option and before printing, select as your printer the fax driver (I use Winfax) instead of the normal printer and it will fax through your fax software. Of course you should have a modem as well. Worth a try.
if you're using windows xp, there is an option in control panel -> printers and faxes to set up a fax. you'll need the windows cd. I have no idea what it does, but there is that option there.
That XP trick worked once I realized I had to log off the net to free up the modem. I can send, but not receive, and can trtansmit any windows based printable output. It's cool.
