Don't get me wrong: I've played 200+ hours of Civ 7 already, and I think it's, at core, a good game.
But I, like many folks, have beefs with the problematic UI and the lack of quality of life features. Want a list of your cities and towns? Well, try the "resources" tab--and don't expect to do any sorting of what you find there. Want to figure out how to get a tile up to 40+ yields when planning a specialist placement? Get out your magnifying glass and count up the yields yourselves, slackers. And on and on it goes. (Don't get me started on the lack of a "restart" botton. I swear they had one, eventually, in Civ 6. Where did they lose it to?)
Sometimes I like to imagine there's a single employee at Firaxis who's responsible for the UI. Let's call him "Frank." The game drops and the feedback comes in, and Ed Beach and co. realize that there's a lot of flak about the UI. So Ed says, "gets me the guy who's in charge of the UI!" So someone remembers it's poor Frank, so they start e-mailing him and there's no response, so then they send an intern down to the utility room next to the furnace in the basement, where Frank has his work station. Only Frank is nowhere to be seen--they laid the poor slob off two months ago. Or worse yet, Frank is down there alright, but his corpse is slumped over his computer, bottle of Mountain Dew still clutched in one hand, bag of Twizzlers in the other. And now it's going to take them months to fix the bloody UI.
The only guy happy about these imaginary developments is "Fred." Fred's the guy everyone usually blames if they don't like a game--he's in charge of AI.
