Female snipers

But if they're all women, they won't have any of us men to desperately try to impress.
Except in my department it was the exact opposite. When I started I was the only guy and then a few more got hired and it really diffused the tension in the laboratory. I had several female co-workers state this to me. If I find that study I will post it.

You mean they got less tense when you and other men showed up, or they were tense when you were the only sausage they could think about sizzling.

Many of those Soviet numbers were verified when the Soviet files were opened after Yeltsin disbanded the USSR in 1991.

Yes, it got less tense when more men entered the department. It was 100% female for a while before I was hired. Several women almost quit because the work environment was so problematic between them. These are all highly intelligent, college-educated women; they were very stable with their personal lives as well. Men are more easy going and gregarious, we joke around and break the tension. Whatever the reason, somehow a male presence made for a very positive change.

the fact that the Soviets were on the winning side in that war doesn't mean all of their kill counts are accurate.

No of the kill counts in any war are accurate.

And since sniper "kill counts" and tank "kill counts" required no confirmation*, they are even less accurate than air kills.

*I mean real confirmation. In case of snipers commander of their unit was "confirming" their kills (i.e. "putting a stamp" on a piece of paper - there was no real investigation, just a stamp "conirming" what they did). While in case of airmen, there were some procedures of confirming kills, it was more complex.

But still even confirmed numbers of fighter kills (air victories) are usually much bigger than reported enemy casualties.
