Hi, this message is mainly for Kael, thought others might help too.
Having read the post on the Octopus Overlords, i have added a "world" entry in the Wiki where all background can be put. However I have troubles finding all the bits and pieces of background in the 504 pages of the FFH and FFH2 threads  (i tryed a thread search but didn't find much).

I have stripped the pedia entry concerning the history, and will reformat it and add it to the wiki. There are some informations in the description of the civs and religions too, but not everything.

Are there some files somewhere with background (i remember and old file in the FFH1 thread that seem to have been deleted, maybe it's only the pedia entry, it talked about the history. If you have files with history, could you link them here please?

Also if by some strange miracle someone knows where posts with backrgound bits and pieces are located, could you give me links to those posts. :p

Of course if someone knows something, you can post it in the wiki too, but i will try to add the BG informations i can find to the wiki page, i just don't feel like reading all the 504 pages again to find them

This thread is probably a good place to start: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=176150.

There is no set writeup for everything. If we were to go back to the D&D campaign it is based on it would be many years of different stories without much consistency. The world evolved over time and each new campaign with new players gave me an opportunity rebuild whatever I thought was interesting at that time. And although my worlds always had a lot of backstory, the focus really was on what the oplayers were doing.

And another of those evolutions happened when I started on the mod. I used the things from the D&D game that I wanted and left the rest behind. And I made up new stuff where I needed to fill out certain areas. The D&D game is an inspiration for the setting, we are not trying to recreate the D&D games.

Plus the writing team has taken the base design structure and elaborated on it with their own ideas. Since we aren't attempting to recreate the D&D games this is awesome. I just watch out for it to make sure we are consistent (and I admit some of the characters are sacred to me and have to be handled just right).

So I don't anything firm to share, just stories as we write them. I know I need to do a better job of recording them when I do write them instead of scattering them across thousands of posts. You create the wiki entry and I'll try to remember to copy information there as well.

Hmmm... A lore and background repository...

I support this motion.

Care to share any with us? :mischief:

I get picky about the characters I used a lot in the D&D games. I know one of the team (I think it was Nikis-Knight) wrote a really good pedia entry for Cassiel. But Im DM'ed Cassiel so much (or more correctly told his story through Branding) that I dont think anyone else could have written a story I would have liked.

People that played a lot of D&D would understand. At some level these characters are as 3 dimensional as real people to me. Maybe even more so since I understand their motivations, past, present and future.
