Ffh Nes Ii

With Jopa bringing up the terrain on the map can we get a key to what the vegetation means. I'm assuming the slash lines mean grassland, the diagonal squares forest, and the stars swamp. But I'm often horribly wrong so please correct me if so, so that I can choose a more appropriate spot.

Also can I just say that if anyone else wants to start a FFHNES, they are going to have to wait for mine. I was the first to say I was running a sequal and I don't want certain bastards experienced NESers to think I'm just following the herd, because as far as I'm concerned, mine is the sequel of FFHNES and the honorary prequel of FFHNES Ii. Mine will be run after January, as soon as either Jopa's or Immaculate's concludes.

Thanks, Ekolite

This is true. Ekolite and i had discussed his NES prior to me setting up this one. I asked his and Jopa's permission before running this one. So yeah, his is the REAL sequel.

Close:
slash means decidious forests
diagonals mean coniferous forests
stars are indeed swamps

pretty much everything else is either grasslands or plains. its a wet world and there is no real desert (good thing no one mentioned malakim).

For the sake of priority, a priority slot is now simply called a 'skilled workforce', so you can have agricultural workforces, trade workforces, domestic commerce workforces and industrial workforces. The total level of any one skilled workforce may not exceed the population fo city or outpost and the total of which may not exceed twice the city or outpost's population.

If I take Lanun, can they sail, and how well can they sail? Can they sail from 10 to 15/14 or from 15 to 16? It wouldn't make sense to have nonsailing captain ...

@ JOPA: sailing on that scale would not be possible without substantial investment in 'exploration and trade' technology. If you take the Lanun however, you can direct your research there directly instead of all throughout the 'eploration and trade' tree but you'll still need to generate research points (either directly over time or as a one-off payment during the first turn- see post 14) So if you start in a central island, you will be isolated for awhile. this is just like the lanun in the video game FFH so i think its appropriate.

TO: Lanun:

Assuming that you spend one of your two 'free priorities' in 'exploration and trade', you would need to generate a further 25 research points (75 gold) to be able to travel along coasts and trade along coasts and an additional 50 research points (150 of your starting gold, in addition to the 75 already listed) to travel across those central island chains.

This is a sizeable investment but if you don't make it now it may take some time to generate that much research points just from cities and buildings.

To: All others:
All nations will have a chance to 'streamline' research towards one thing if they want to (instead of guessing with the research priority paths). Those targets are 'summoning' for the sheim, 'sorcery' for the amurites, 'horseback-riding' for the hippus, and i'm not quite sure what for the grig or bannor. Help please?

its a wet world and there is no real desert (good thing no one mentioned malakim).

The lack of deserts and lack of time was one of the reason i probably won't be participating on this.

Eko: I you will be starting after January, could you reserve me a hot, sandy spot drier than the driest martini?

Immaculate: Bannor - Military tactics, Grigori - The idea of "streamlining" is against their freedoms, but if you hae to make one, caravans would imho fit.

Well judging by the area I picked it's mostly forest so I should change, if Charles isn't playing I'll take his location. If he still is I'm not entirely sure yet.

What about my Sidar? Priorities, priorities...

Although, the sidar are generalist enough that I probably don't NEED a "streamline". Still, expect a couple PM's within a few days, Immac - I've got many, many questions to inflict on you.

As for Bannor and Grigori, I'd agree with Algeroth - the Bannor/military tactics (or maybe just bronze working), and the Grigori are a lot like the Sidar. They're generalized enough that they may not want to streamline, really.

I think fanaticism or something along the religious line would be more fitting for the Bannor. Also, can you come one msn at some point Immaculate? I have a few quite a few a ton of questions to ask you. :)

Re: Contacting me:
I'll try- depends on what time the family gets to bed. It might be worth just e-mailing them.

My e-mail, for everyone, is: philgob@hotmail.com. This is my MSN too.

Re: streamline:
I want them to be more like tier 2 techs (like horseback riding or sailing) so military tactics would be better than fanatacism. I'm not sure what would be appropriate for the sidar -ether something in the mysticism line or something in the military (recon) line.

Other:

I'm really looking forward to getting the setting up phase done and starting. The resouce system needs testing but i think it should be pretty interesting, same with the technologies (obviously i am biased).

Can't the players choose? I'd rather gave something along the priest line for RP reasons.

yeah- totally- i was just throwing stuff out there.

I'm moving my starting location to R22 assuming it's not already taken, if it is I'll go somewhere else. (42 and 41 respectively)

Capital of Sabel upon Gate (R22)

City in R24, named Vaelyn, (110g)
Grow Vaelyn to size 3, (13g)

2 Land clearances (and Agriculture work forces) in Sabel (20g)
1 "" "" in Vaelyn (10g)

2 cottages in Sabel and Vaelyn each (80g (inc. workforces))
Roads in both regions (?g)

90g towards tech points.

Tech lines to come.

@KOL: good story (as usual).

Ok, I guess that means I'm out unless Immaculate is willing to add a slot for a new player (please?):mischief:.

Anyways if I can't get a spot here maybe one will be open in Ekolite's FFH nes once it opens. @Ekolite - I realize your nes will be a sequel but will you be allowing new players as well?

Oh, you ninja bastard...

Move me to territory 4, then - at the mouth of the river.

@ ORANGE:

Do you want territory 10 now that Mastadisasta can't play?
Also, i don't know the sidar back story at all. i know that they are long-lived semi-dead but not undead. Can you point me to a good story/description for them. (makes sense for such a secretive race)

@MastaDisasta:

I'm sorry- there will only be 7 players allowed. This is going to be a complex, empire-building type NES and its my first so i dont want to bite off more than i can chew. Please keep involved and reading the stories. If its anythign like Jopa's FFH NES, the stories and the action and the rhetoric will get quite good.
If there is a drop-out and you express interest, you get first crack at a new position (but i won't be hunting you down for it).

Immac.

All right I'll definitely keep up with the thread. When I stumbled upon Jopa's I read a lot of it (well not all 50 pages) so this one will probably be pretty interesting too. The stories and roleplaying behind the nes are a blast to read. And I'll be ready in case that opportunity to jump in shows up.
