FGXRenderer11::Present failed hr=DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED. Driver Failure

Anyone know anything about this bug?

I have seen a couple of posts on it and haven't seen any kind of resolution.

Makes playing the game impossible.

Did you try playing the directx 9 version just to compare? I believe there was a problem with a certain nvidia driver version and DX11 so that's a possibility.

Nope... What will that effect? I have never played on that version.

Directx 9 is an older version of the graphics subsystem within Windows, so certain effects may be poorer (the one I noticed most was the water rippling is slightly better in FX11). It may or may not perform faster for you.

So I tried reloading a Beta Video Driver didn't work.

Tried DirectX9 and not only did it eventually crash to the Desktop but it also had a huge interface and none of the leader screens showed up.

I have been playing this since the begining on this machine had no problems with GnK or Vanilla in the past... so frustrating.

Shutting it down until I see something concrete happen to fix this.

UPDATE: Rolled back to the last real driver. Lowered my video settings and I have been able to play about 145 turns of a new game.

Really sucks that all of a sudden I am having these kinds of problems.

a quick google search proves that this is a widespread problem, but in any case, it has nothing to do with the mod, but is base game problem. Posting the error message in google gives you a few 2kforums threads, maybe they can help you? Otherwise I would try update the nvidia video driver (it cannot hurt in any case, no?) and praying to your preferred god or goddess :)

Played another session to about 250 turns or so. Still no crashes.

Spent hours on the 2k forums and Steam forums looking into this. Not really sure which update actually caused this problem? A lot of talk about temperatures of video cards, and incompatibilities between ActiveX10 and 10.1 which supposedly Civ V is built on.

I did not notice the crashes when playing Gods and Kings but could have been an update since then as well... so...

But either way. If you start to get this error out of the blue like me... Lower your video settings.

Hi everyone,

I had this error as well and it was driving me mad! What fixed it (for me at least) was using the Nvidia Performance Panel to switch the fan control from auto to manual. I set it to about 60% when playing (the default is 30%) and then switch back to auto after.

Weird thing is that the GPU (GTX 580 3gb) wasn't actually running very hot when playing Civ - only at about 45 degrees. Still, I've gone from crashes every 5-10 mins to hours of unspoiled play on the biggest map sizes.

Hope this helps someone!
