finite resources

i think the game would be better if certain resources such as oil and coal were finite and making reserch for military units such as tanks to run on electricity but make the reserch quite high that would add more realistic pressure over resorces towards the end off the game.

I believe that some resources do run out, at least in 3. I'm not sure about 4.

Yeah, +1 for quantifiable resources that can be depleted.

@DrumStudent- in Civ4, no, resources cannot be depleted.

@Silurian- well, isn't that the idea of corporations? I didn't get BtS, but wasn't there one that changed wheat into oil?

Rice, Sugar, and another resource... It created 1 oil for each of those. Standard Ethanol.
