is this normal? i never really paid attention to swamps but i saw a couple squares in my latest game that had fish in them, no water near the squares but there was fish on the swamp squares.

Yeah, marsh can have fish. And you can clear the marsh, and have grassland with fish in it. Irrigate it, railroad it, you get some ungodly amount of food from the square. More than a wheat on a flood plain, I think.

Irrigated grassland fish gives the same food as irrigated grassland wheat methinks + the additional commerce.

Fish give +2 food bonus (and +1 commerce) just as wheat, so an irrigated RR'ed grassland fish produces 6 food :crazyeye:

That's a good idea! I never thought there would ever be Fish on a grassland. I've go to try that.

I never understood the idea you can find fish in swamps but you can't irrigate tiles next to swamps

its a preserved wetland, army corps of engineers said so and wont allow you to drain the marsh and ruin the delicate ecosystemjust so you can grow crops.

but you can turn it into a grassland! lol

What if you have fish on irrigated floodplains with railroad? how much food?
That does not happen. You can have wheat on irrigated floodplains with RR and I think from the top of my head, that would give you seven food.
