[FIXED] Freezing on loading

My computer: Win7 64 bit, Processor i7CPU, 4MB Ram, Radeon HD 5700.

I've had G&K less than a week and played most of one standard game until I had a crash in the industrial era and since then G&K freezes on loading every time. My computer easily meets the recommended spec. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but even when I was able to play the game I found that every time I exited from the game the mouse would freeze. Now very frustrated and any help appreciated.

Please verify first the integrity of the game files via Steam.
That should also fix broken files, but will require less downloading.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean I should ask the Steam support to check my game files?

No, you can do that yourself.
Open Steam, go to library, choose Civ5, make a right click on it. Go to properties at the bottom, and go to the tab "local files" in the next menu. There should be a button to verify the file integrity of Civ5. It should then download some files, which might have been corrupted. After this is done, you should again try to play Civ5.

Thank you, kind sir! I just did as you outlined. The Steam check showed that one file failed to validate and Steam downloaded the correct one. The good news is that now I can get back into the game. You've just improved my mood considerably!
