I am installing Civilization 4 (Vanilla, Warlords & BTS) on a new machine that has Vista x64. I've installed the 3.17 patch using a standalone patch. Also installed Solver's/Dresden's patch, BugMod 3.5 and parts of Blue Marble.
What I'm noticing is a flickering of the world minimap. When I zoom out to the satellite view with the clouds, basically the whole world is flickering. It makes it hard to read and difficult to look at for more than a few moments. Changing various graphic settings in the game didn't seem to make a difference.
Machine is a Quadcore 3.0 GHz x 4 (Q9650) with ATI HD 4870x2 graphics card, 4 GB of RAM, 1 TB drive, and an SB X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro. Monitor is a Dell FP2001 LCD.
I expect it may be the graphic drivers as it is a fairly new graphics card, but I've installed the latest ATI drivers: Catalyst 8.10 that came out 10/15. The version before that also had this problem.
Any suggestions?
(There also seems to be a glitch with the loading bar when I first start the game. There are the equivalent of two text lines that appear as a default windows type interface (gray box) that are superimposed on the graphical loading box. One of those lines is the one with the text like Checking XML... etc. Seems to be just a display issue as the game loads fine.)
