To all: May be a little dark, I can fix that of you all think so, I (late last night:lol: ) though it looked a bit better darker. The scale is 0.7, so tell me what you think of the size..

Yeah, I agree totally with that. Atm, I have the subs get a first strike and destroyers just ignore first strikes (What else get them at the moment anyways?)
So you really would get more bang for your buck with subs.. unless they build corvettes or destroyers. :P

I too like promotions, but either way I think subs should start with a bonus vs battleships and carriers as the whole reason for that bonus is because they start submerged. And a totally raw submarine crew that is going our to battle should at least know how to submerge the thing, and even maybe fire the weapons.

I think also that corvettes should be a little more powerful than destroyers vs subs, as they could follow the subs as they twisted and turned to try to escape the sonar or whatever it was back then. And that they are dirt cheap.. But then they should only be able to have a %75 chance at beating ironclads, as they had a machine gun, and one smallish gun, nothing like a battleship, or even a destroyer.

That is a good idea.. I could not find a lot of pictures that had a view were I could see what it looked like.. Does anyone have any ideas what a turret would be like? Would it have handles, or hatches (and where would that be) etc..

The material color is too dark. It's sad because your model is really nice. You should set your emissive, ambient and diffuse light more withe (in the material propriety)
 
the propellers of the ships aren't animated, too;)

I have a problem with civ4 naval warfare: after a unit has won a battle it is always so badly damaged that it get easily sunk the next turn. I thought about a "repair"-promotion or so. What do you think?

i have noticed that enemy s ships are always attacking by two or three.Very rear to travel and attack alone.I miss the artificial iq of civilization 1,2,in which ships were cruising sometimes alone,making independent cruises.The idea of repairing is good.Although each promotion offers some healing to a ship,we could use your idea-repair promotion-as a full heal to the ship but i believe this could not effect its offensive or defensive skills.i m trying to say by using this promotion,the only that a ship will get is full heal and no changes to its attack or defense.You ve got an image for this?

To be honest I think that the Naval Ai of Civ2 was extrem stupid. They wasted there vessel if they had a chance to do so. I remember that single ships attack coastal cities without any armies near that city! The ship loses it's life points un till it's destroyed - and for what? for nothing!
Ok, Civ2 was one of my favourite games, but I don't want that Ai back!

I think a full heal should never happen outside a habour. I thougt about a promotion that act like the "March" promotion but with a name that fit for ships and a bit faster.
 
To be honest I think that the Naval Ai of Civ2 was extrem stupid. They wasted there vessel if they had a chance to do so. I remember that single ships attack coastal cities without any armies near that city! The ship loses it's life points un till it's destroyed - and for what? for nothing!

When I played Civ 4 it was so long ago, and I was so young I do not remember that. :lol:

Maybe like repair, and you could use the gfx from the Desert war..

I just changed the one as two other ones didn't do anything, and the 4th only lit up a small portion of it.

This corvet is going to be in my upcoming little patch for 5.3 version of my mod as good anti sub unit.
I really want to add some ships into my mod, so if u could do that we can use it also in my patch. I really need this two units -
1-russian typhoon submarine

Well,

i agree definately with that.that was a bad point indeed.they attacked citites without army,to support an invasion.however,the rest i think was good.I dont know if you played civ 3:the only objective of the navy was only to escort invasion ships!
in civ 4,cganges this somehow,as their objctive now is to destroy only the nets and generally the coastal resources,which i consider it very limited to its potential.
 
I haven't played civ3, "just" civ2 and civ4.

The civ4 Ai can do more. I saw some good planed invasions in a "prince" game. The transport was filled with advanced units and protected by destroyers. I think battlesships weren't available jet. Katherina attack at the weak side of my continent and took two of my cities. She ruined my game:mad:
