I have written an article for the paper, it hasn't been published yet so here it is:
After a great mid season run Martigues continued their unbeaten run as they draw away against improving Laval who are moving up the table after being bottom of the table ealier in the season, now 15th.
Whilst Martigues dropped two points, the chasing pakc failed to capitalise as the battle for the other promotion places saw fourth placed Caens draw at home to second placed side Beauvais to keep both their promotion bids on track.
The Beauvias manager was said to be satisfied with the result which kept them in second and means that in the second half of the season they have improved their results over the first half of the season and hopefully they will be in a position to win promotion and possibly even challenge for the title.
Creteil remained in third after also drawing so Martigues 7 points gap does seem to be impressive for this stage of the season and we wouldn't bet against them clinching promotion and the chapionship as well.
1 Martigues 27 18 5 4 42 15 +27 59
2 AS Beauvais Oise 27 16 4 7 45 25 +20 52
3 Caen 27 14 7 6 34 22 +12 49
4 Creteil 27 14 7 6 32 25 +7 49
5 Chamois Niortais 27 12 8 7 32 23 +9 44
6 Le Mans 27 13 5 9 33 31 +2 44
This weeks fixtures will be:
Lorient vs. Gueugnon
Niort vs. Creteil
Nimes vs. Cannes
Martigues vs. Caen
Nice vs. Le Mans
Montpellier vs. Sochaux
Beauvais vs. Laval
Ajaccio vs. Nancy
Angers vs. Chateauroux
Wasquehal vs. Le Havre
The live game will be Martigues vs Caen as Martigues aim to extend their lead at the top of the french second division whilst Caen aim to improve on their current position of fourth in the table. Another important game will be fifth placed Niort's game against Creteil, where a win for Niort would open up the promotion race.
Beauvais seem to have the easiest game out of the top five where they are playing Laval at home. Although Laval will certainly make it difficult for the promotion chasing team as manager Kevin Klop has really managed to turn the club's season around and Laval are beginning to climb up the table. Beauvais manager, Matthew Bradley commented that he expectedhis team to win the game but the game will be close.
