Forbidden Palace Questions

What are your opinions about where to build the FP? How many squares from your capitol? When do you build it? If you can't spare a GL, how do you build it?

Look for a good production area. The ideal is Cows on grass plus some hills. A river is a bonus for the Hoover Dam (much later in the game).

With a leader, find the best production area that can nest about five decent cities close to the Forbidden Palace city. Distance from the capital is irrelevant.

Without a leader, about 8 to 11 squares distance on a standard size map, Emperor level. Again, look for an area that can nest several production cities close to the Forbidden Palace.

Again, like almost every other question about the game, the answer will vary with map size and difficulty level.

I never get the opportunity to build the forbidden Palace.

Now, I have tagged many buildings to reduce corruption -libraries, temples and the like which is very effective and adds to culture to boot.

Is it possible that this lack of corruption is what has removed the FP from what I can build?

Maybe you set your opt. cities higher

You need at least 8 cities to build FP. When your 8th city is founded, your advisor will say 'The ppl want to build Forbidden Palace. Maybe we should...'

We (actually my son) reset the optimal number to 100.

That explains a lot. I didn't know the two were related. I thought 8 cities rule stayed no matter what.

I usually have 8 cities when the others have 4 or 5.

I'm pretty sure the FP becomes available when you have 50% of the optimum city size. In your case, this would be 50 cities.

I'm not certain if this gets modified by difficulty level, or if the "% of optimum cities" flag in the editor only applies to corruption. I don't think FP availablility is altered by it.

I hope someone can answer this question. I was on a pangea maps that had two landmasses separated from each other. On the landmass I began I built a FP with a great leader. Now when I made a beach head on the other continent, I wasnt given the option to move my palace!WTH. On my starting landmass I had the option in every city. Am I missing something???

I even tried to sell the FP.Guess what?YOU CANT!!!GRRR...
