alright I'm on my way to ottawa for a school trip but have to go through a four hour drive, luckily I have my laptop

does anyone know a game that could be downloaded or something? I accidentally broke my version of Doomsday so I have nothing to do really

All I can really think of for stuff to (legally) download off the net would be demos and whatnot but 4 hours worth of demos might send you mad.

What about a game like the original Age of Empire, you might be able to get it dirt cheap, that can waste a few hours.

Getting a cheap game in advance might be a better idea. The only games I can think of that you can download freely are the original Grand Theft Auto and (I think) Command and Conquer.

actually I was searching around last night and found

Conflict: Middle East, seems rather interesting but its really hard

Why not check any abandonware site ?
You can still find gems in there.

Conflict: Middle East is great. And actually not that hard when you get a grip of it. Just remember not to cause war with more than two of your neighbouring states.

If your computer will run it, try Trackmania Nations. It's a racing game that can easily kill a couple hours, is new, free, and it entirely keyboard-controlled. If you've got powerful hardware, it looks brilliant, but it scales down pretty well if you don't, too.

Another good one would be Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon Deluxe, available for free at the newest version's official site. It's a classic, 1990/1994 game that's fun and you can play a long time. Takes a bit of getting used to if you've never played it, but it's a good game. It comes with DosBox so it'll work for sure.

Youu could always download DOSbox and play Elite 2 like I'm doing now.

Or isn't there a free version of Civ2?

OpenTTD can also waste a few hours. Pretty easy to pick up and free to boot.

I've no idea... since this was 5 days ago. But this thread is a good idea for some free games.

RailRoad Tycoon 2 is awesome.

yeah actually I'm writing this from ottawa but in hopes of helping others who may want to know I'll encourage this to keep going

Conflict:Middle East and Crisis in the Kremlin

both pretty good games that I found for free
