Every game I've played there's never been all four powers playing at the same time by the end of the game.

I see this messege: "PowerA has ceded all of their territory to PowerB".....

WHy does this happen?

It's a reference to how it actually went in the past. Compare it to the events when you declare independence: your king sends troops, another king sends help.

It's simple. It is a reference to the 1758-1763 war of France-England. In 1760, France lost all it's territories in northern America, and they surrendered them officialy in 1763. Thus, France dissappeared from the New World.

I am not an expert in history , but french colnie were conquered by The Army of the British Empire . France send Help to the American Revolution .New York was a Dutch Colony , called New Amsterdam . all the west Coast of USA were Spanish colony .

FRANCE have today a colony in South America .
the liberation of South America from the Spanish began at Argentina .
The Dutch have or had a Colony in south America , Surinam .

and do not forget Brazil who was a Colony of Portugal .

so from 5 power nobody disapear in the New World , but 2 have very little left before the indenpenance Of USA .
BTW USA conquered The spanish Colony Of the West Coast (california ,new mexico ...)

Canadain is right...but it doesn't exactly answer my question. How come in every game there are only three powers by the end? Was it memory constrictions, the totally brutal (yet inept) AI, or unbalance of the supply / demand market? Any ideas?

after some time the computer is tired of fighting with you and himself so he disband one of the european force before creating the force that will suport you in the " Declaration of Independance "
BTW did sombody Destroy all Indian Vilage and City ?

So you know what I'm talking about. This happens in every game of mine. It's a bad thing. Becasue you have two European powers warring on me instead of someone else.

As far as I can recall, it's related to your SOL memebership. At a a certain point (I think at 50 percent memebership), one of the other nation's colonies will be ceded to another power. I'll check it out in my next game and let you know.

Edit: Yes, it is at 50 percent membership. Achinz's explanation (below) seems very likely.

IIRC, it is actually a limitation of the DOS-based program (shows how old the game is!). It is to make space available for the role of the mother country when Independence is declared.

Thank you! That was indeed the answer I was looking for. :-)

That's exactly what happens... I remember having spent a long time wondering about this some years ago, until I realised what was happening

lump, you DON'T want the Windows version. Trust me on this. The Windows version is buggy to the point of being unplayable.
