Every single game I've played so far,(all have been with 12+ civs) have always had either me as the only civ with freedom or with 1 other civ.

Of course this hurts my tourism and trade, but i figured a way around it. Basically I have to have half or 75% of the CS as my allies and then I force freedom as the "world Idealogue" down their throats at the WC. This makes the map LIGHT UP.

I've started more wars over different idealogies than I have over land disputes.

Pay attention to whoever gets the first ideology - the AI might just jump in the bandwagon in order to avoid the :c5unhappy: that comes with differing ideologies.

All of my games I've only seen Order or Freedom picked - which makes sense right now as the AI isn't going to be getting as much bonus from Autocracy (as it is a war tree).

I've noticed it depends on the most dominant of the people that first found it. In my first game, I went freedom and Poland went order. My allies went Freedom while his allies went Order, then Siam went Autocracy just to be different and got eliminated because of it.

In one of my recent games here was the breakdown:

Autocracy
Me (Denmark)
Siam

Order
Zulu

Freedom
Inca
Celts
Brazil
Byzantium

So it's probably just bad luck. Amusingly "Chairman Shaka" had a revolt in which his people forced him to adopt freedom.

I got to ideology first and picked Freedom as I thought it was a safe pick. Everyone else afterwards picked autocracy and order.

The best thing to do it to try to make your ideology the world ideology before the rest choose their's (which is much harder in higher difficulties but if you do it it pays off). From what I've seen they will just start picking that ideology.

Thank goodness freedom isn't popular! The damn capitalists always do their level best to ruin my glorious communist factory utopia!

POWER TO THE FACTORIES!

It all depends on which civ you are playing against. Marocco , venice usally pick freedom there are a lot of other AI who olso pick them.

The developers said there is no civ bias to a choice today in their polycast. So Germany won't always pick autocracy, for example. They wanted to create that alternate reality feel.

Me (Poland and biggest tourism) -Autocracy
My allies (except Portugal) - Autocracy
My enemies (except Sweden) - Order

Sweden taking Autocracy was him dodging the bullet that got Netherlands destroyed and the Austrians ganged up on while Portugal went Freedom because they thought they were more influential than they really are. Arabia was the only other who went Freedom but they are so far removed from everything nobody can influence them at all.
