Soon I changed from civ3 to C3C. My first game I played Emperor the same level I played on civ3. Not surprisingly I lost totally, but now I've started 3-4 and only once I've passed through the first era.:( Is C3C harder or I ve got stupit or... Could it be because comunications and maps can't be exchanged so early as civ3, or it is just my last hope not to feel as an idiot? :sad:What level did you started when you changed your civ with newer one?:hmm:

Conquests introduces some new features to the game, such as new units and techs. Also some of the rules have been changed slightly, eg. worker turns to chop a forest.

Therefore the game will play slightly differently, though not necessarily any harder. You just need to adapt your strategies to the new game. I would suggest dropping down to Monarch just until you learn the new C3C system.

For example, the change you mentioned (comms + maps) is a major change that affects early game strategy. In C3C it is now vital to get units out exploring and meeting other civs or else you will quickly fall behind.

The other major changes are the RCP (if you don't know what it stands for, then you don't have to worry about this change :) ), and the Forbidden palace. RCP is gone, and the FP does not act as a complete 2nd palace anymore. It now just reduces corruption in the general direction that it's build. Both of those changes tend to make the game harder for the players.

It is also easier now for the top AI civ to run away from the pack (at least partially due to the FP change, since the AI's way of building the FP as soon as possible close to the capital is the best way now). That may be another reason for your feeling that the game is more difficult.

Another major change that disadvantages you on higher levels is the maximum research time. It was changed from 40 to 50, and those 10 turns can be the difference between getting the tech at monopoly, or getting it last. Combine this with all the changes SJ Frank and Zakharov mentioned, and PTW Deity is now C3C Demigod.

Thank you I really didn't know FP was changed now. By the way what's RCP?

You're right I was really surprised to see 50 turns at the beginning, but after some time watching at it I realised I couldn't do much about it and now I'm getting used to it. Do you know from which level this change starts from?

I did it and it was much better but I lost because of my mistake which I know this time (forgot to trade techs for long time:blush: ), so at Monarch I will probably succeed to survive till the end without being the weekest civilisation. :mischief:

The min. is always four turns and the max is always 50, regardless of level. The important difference is that you pay more for techs at higher levels, making it more likely that you will need more than 50-turns regardless of your science rate. As a result, it is often a good idea to start researching a 'second tier tech' (ideally Writing, though Iron Working and Mysticism can work; it mostly depends on starting techs) at one beaker per turn (bpt). As long as you're not putting zero bpt in the "science bank" you will never need to take longer than 50 turns. Seeing as researching at maximum won't ge the tech much (if at all) faster, there's no point in wasting a lot of money on it when you could be saving up for trades.
