Tiny map, 4 civ, medium size continents... I was Soliman I, Califa of the Persians. Perseopolis apears and... what is that? Babylon apears like 5 tiles nort west from my capital.... Aztecs apears on the south and very up north the Zulus advance fast...

I put my cool mode on my head  and start the severe beating...

Later in the game I toke the last bastion of the Zulu resistance and pretty much ended the game. The only civ left were the aztecs and they had only a governament in exile on a boat

Now the funny thing... from the boat with 2 hitpoints left Montesuma demands me tech, money, maps and all !?!?!?

They were mocking of me in all my glory! Those stupid bastards hurt my fealings... then I start to cry so I save the game and ran to my mommy.

The question is... WHY THE AI ITS SO STUPID! DOESN´T HE KNOWS THAT HE IS ABOUT TO DIE!!!

and why all the civs started so close! I end it before :jesus: born...

One thing I really liked about Civ2, CTP or Alpha (I can't remember which one did it) is that when you were just about to finish a civ, they'd basically cowtow to you and do anything you wanted. They'd sign an alliance with you, give you all their money and tech whenever you asked and basically just be your B1*&h until you either crushed them for the fun of it, or until the game ended.

But it made a lot of sense. In my current game, the Egyptians are at my mercy, I've sacked their capital 5 times, and they are going to die. Why don't they just give up and be my slave?

:scan:

In terms of game balance, I like the fact that it's hard to just steamroll over everyone. One of the problems with civ2 was that once you started to win, it was just a matter of time. In this, captured cities barely help which makes it harder to grow exponentially.

That was SMAC. It was pretty cool when that Religious civ would always bow before me. The military one was often reluctant and would fight to the death. I think that this would add a great deal to the game - especially with Culture. If I forced the civ to hand over a bunch of cities I could receive the option of transplanting a civ which has been eliminated or one that never made the game into those cities. That would open a whole new level to the game.
