Nah, when going for a culture victory the AI always leave it till the very end before attacking with a very big stack that they've been building up all game.

that's why i asked. the only cultural victory i've ever achieved without any war has been way back shortly after civ4 release with washington (nappy and liz as my neighbours) on prince level ^^ my most recent cultural struggle has been with the incan empire on emperor and with just the 3rd city like 2k points away from going legendary, nappy invaded with a HUGE stack of riflemen and took all of my cities within 10 turns Oo guess i'm not that good in diplomacy :D most games go very well, i'm pleased with nearly everyone and at some point things go bad. and i don't know exactly why. it's like civ A demands, civ B cancles trades, civ C wants me to switch civics, civ D demands some other crap and within 5 turns the whole world hates me all of a sudden  so i rather stick to my guns, literally ^^

and thanks for the write up kmad, always fun to read about other's games ^^

this one was monarch. every time i try it when i'm not spiritual i regret not taking spiritual, it makes giving into demands so much easier! but i still find it so much fun!! i don't always win, last time that was victoria's fault, and she shall die, horribly, when i get around to it. i might nuke her 38,000 times and take screenshots of it just for giggles.

Forgive the large number of Workers, but why is a Quechua showing when I have Domestics selected. And don't tell me that they're in the Salvation Army, because they didn't have one in 720 AD (or did they?).

This worker was so desperate to build a pasture that he went all the way around the world (I am using my own reskin).

Haha! Around the world in 80 turns. If you are wondering why I am researching Chemistry in 1730 AD, it is because I am doing an Al Gore, beelining for Fiber Optics to get the Internet (Al Gore is on the internet button).

Haha, doing an Al Gore. Nice.

If you still have Quechua in 720 AD, they might as well be "domestic help" for all the good they'll do in a fight. Them showing up on Domestic just shows the fact that you've castrated them by not upgrading them.

i consider a warrior guarding my capital in the 1900 ADs to be an honor, he's held in a position of respect!! he's the old vet the young whippersnappers look up to. a sign that my empire is so strong that we don't need to rely purely on technological strength; part of our power is our incredible morale and belief in teamwork.

that, or i'm cheap and don't want to pay for upgrades.

My definition of a bad deal ( at least for me.... surely Nappy has a different opinion  ):

Yeah, yeah.... I'll trade one of the most expensive techs in the game by one the AI has for free, specially with a guy that is a vassal and is playing a forced OCC :crazyeye: . Oh , I see, that pocket change will make me change my mind.... Why does the AI does this absurdely stupid things?

P.S. ( -1000 with Nappy "You're such a jerk!" )

Wanna explain the funny part ? :)

The "eye" in the screenshot is the symbol of CBS, one of the 3 main US TV networks. It's pretty close, but if you're not from the US and have never heard of CBS, then it wouldn't make much sense.

Plus it's channel 3 in my part of the country. ;)

To gain style points when performing an AlGore, rather than beelining for Fiber Optics, you must instead purchase truth offsets, then merely lie to everyone that you have constructed the Internet.

I guess the barbs want some cows real badly? :crazyeye:

No rain in the desert,so they obviously need some burgers for their many barb-e-cues (so thats how they got that name) ......:p

Very mad I did not get a screenshot. I accidentally clicked Disembark on a ship. Explorer was stuck in the middle of the ocean. He couldn't get back on the ship, and was not allowed to move to other ocean tiles. Really sucked.
